The bathroom well stocked with those little extra touches and the quality of decoration throughout is high. Even the towels seemed new. Choice for breakfast was first class and was well cooked. And to top all of this off with the most up to date way of thinking, incorporating Green Tourism in 2011 in the form of minimising our carbon footprint by encouraging the following

We encourage our guests to car pool when travelling into Lincoln whenever possible, or to consider local bicycle hire for short or longer day trips out, also advising on local bus routes into Lincoln in order to "leave the car parked where it is for the day"

At The Gables Guest House bed and breakfast we have had solar power since 2011 again minimising our carbon footprint and helping our environment tremendously, We have a rain water harvesting system in place which can collect 2400 litres of rainwater at any one time for running the washing machine (Triple filters in place)

What a busy year 2012 was

Hi and welcome to the latest news from The Gables Guest House in Lincoln, your first port of call if you are looking for quality accommodation and or bed and breakfast in Lincoln

Well 2012 is well land truly out of the way now and we find the months of 2013 rolling on by very quickly

We have now completed all our work in an attempt to be more environmentally friendly and are just waiting for our grading by The Green Business Tourism Scheme to see how well we have done

The Gables with its Bed and Breakfast offering continues to go from strength to strength and we are now in the process of joining the AA tourism scheme as well as our continued partnership with visit England

Our two apartments (used for longer term lets as well as Bed and Breakfast in Lincoln have had a winter revamp with both being re decorated and re carpeted throughout and the final touches have been completed to the top floor of the actual guest house as well

Gables Goes Green

Here at the Gables Guest House in Lincoln we have "gone green" by having a 5.39kw solar pv array installed on our south facing roof which weather permitting and of course sunshine, will enable us to generate all our own electricity through the day and still leave plenty to export to the national grid

In addition to the pv array we have also installed solar thermal tubes which heat up our hot water to a very toasty 60 degrees thus negating our need to rely so heavily upon fossil fuels
More energy efficient ideas are due to come online in the next few months including energy saving key card locks for the bed room doors along with the instalation of a rain water harvesting system

New hands at the helm

                         Hello and welcome to the first blog from The Gables Guest House

As from 14th January new owners Hilary and David Parker are at the helm and would like to welcome old and new guests to their smart guest house in Lincoln .
With over thirty years of experience between us in the hospitality trade you can be sure of a very warm welcome and you can be confident that we will do everything we can to make your stay as enjoyable and comfortable as we possibly can.
Of course anyone who knows us and stayed with us before in our previous establishment in Whitby will be pleased to know that we still have Amber the dog and everyone's favourite Tyson the three legged ginger tom cat (we cant help it if we are both suckers for a sob story)
